Obasanjo' s call for Cancellation of Ongoing INEC Results, An attempt to Cause Mayhem: Omoluabi Socio- cultural Group Calls for Caution

Obasanjo' s call for Cancellation of Ongoing INEC Results, An attempt to Cause Mayhem: Omoluabi Socio- cultural Group Calls for Caution.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is no stranger to the populace and an elderstateman who is expected to maintain decorum on issues like this. He, Obasanjo was seen  reading on TV an epistle for a media brief as press statement calling for the cancellation of results of the ongoing Presidential election conducted by INEC yesterday in his Otta home in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria. Baba is well known for his letters which are frivolous and sometimes seen to be unnecessary from an elderly man of his status, age and calibre,  let alone issuing a press briefing that is capable of truncating the peace, credibility, and fairness that comes with the ongoing general  election. He is well know for his anti people letter that most times are capable of heating up the system in the disguise of playing the role of a true nationalist or an elderstateman with a claim to  love Nigerians more than we Nigerians, the commoners, the electorates and the people themselves. Baba should note that this election is free and fair and deprived of financial or monetary inducement which was the case in the election he appointed Maurice Iwu to conduct in the 2003 and 2007 general elections. It is noted in the annals of history that he was the man who truncated the electoral system and brought in insanity into the polity. He was the man who said someone had K- leg which led to several years of legal battle among brethren from Port Harcourt. Case of Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia.

To some of us the younger generation we see him as a man filled with jealousy and  hatred for the Yorubas from the southwest. Sometimes we wonder if he is really from this part of the country but I am sure the Egba man from Ogun State is a true born from the Yoruba but deceiving Nigerians and especially the younger generation that his love for Nigeria soars above others. You claim to love Nigeria but you never laid your life for the survival of Nigeria. Today some of us read from history a lot of interesting information about some of our founding fathers who gave Nigeria their all and even lives. General Obasanjo should be cautioned abd checkmated on incessant and frivolous letters that have not added values to the lives of a common man but rather open more wounds for Nigerians.

Buhari today has offered Nigerians one of the best INEC chairman in the person of Prof. Mahmmoud who has conducted very credible elections in 2019 and repeating same now. For the very first time, history notes passionately that we electorates were all out to vote without any form of monetary inducement. This compared to the 2003 and 2007 general election which was marred with irregularities that causes alot of imbalance in our electioneering process. Case study of Edo, Ondo, Osun  and Rivers states. Baba should remain in his Otta farm and continue to do his farming and provide mentorship to men and women of the younger generation in a positive manner for national growth. His hatred for the yorubas is well noted dating back to the 1979 election that was expected to produce Chief  Obafemi  Awolowo against Shehu Shagari. He Obasanjo reaped the gains of the pains that came with the annulled presidential election that was suppose to produce M.K.O. Abiola from same Ogun State. His eight(8) years of rein added no significant value to the southwest where he hails from and even the entire Federation. President Muhammad Buhari stands tall in his conducts, maturity and good leadership styles that is exemplary enough in all circumspect. Today, Obasanjo  is repeating  same havoc he caused us in the southwest several decades ago. Oral and written history will forever be told to those who think we are ignorant of facts. Baba Obasanjo should be immediately called to order or we ask him to relocate to his paternal home in a village in the eastern part of Nigeria where we are told he has a link. Hence, the reason for endorsing Peter Obi from the east against our popular choice in the southwest.Asiwaju Bola Ahmed today remains the  best man who is considered competent for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The streets of southwest and even areas around the northern part of Nigeria will celebrate his victory as we patiently wait for the final announcement of the winner of Presidential election.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu' s victory is going to be symbolic.

Oyebanji hails Appeal Court ruling on Ekiti Guber.
…..Dedicates victory to God, Ekiti people.
…..Calls on Segun Oni to join him to develop the State.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has hailed Tuesday’s ruling of the Court of Appeal which reaffirmed his election as Governor of the state; describing it as victory for democracy and the people of the state.

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Ado-Ekiti, had dismissed the appeal of the Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Engr Segun Oni, for lacking in substance.

Governor Oyebanji in a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media), Mr Yinka Oyebode, said his victory is to the glory of God and joy of the people of Ekiti State, whose mandate was reconfirmed by the appellate court.

Oyebanji, who described the ruling of the Appeal Court ruling as a “landmark judgement”, thanked the judiciary for living up to its reputation as the bastion of democracy and last hope of the common man.

The Governor said the judgement was a further proof that God had a hand in the mandate given to him by the people of Ekiti State on June 18, 2022.

He said the judgement should energize members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the people of Ekiti State to march to the polling units with renewed confidence and determination to vote for  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Restating his respect for the Engr Segun Oni, Governor Oyebanji urged his supporters to celebrate in moderation and avoid any form of name calling or hostility against members of the opposition party. He pointed out that Engr Oni had the right to exercise his constitutional right of seeking judicial intervention in the matter.

“I commend the judiciary for this landmark judgement. The judiciary is living up to the expectation of the people. This is victory for democracy and the rule of law.

“I dedicate this victory to God and the good people of Ekiti State who have continue to show tremendous support for the administration.  It’s a validation of what they did during the election and I thank the Judiciary for upholding our victory as a party.

“I just want to plead with all our supporters. Let us celebrate moderately. There is no need to quarrel with anybody or resort to name calling. We are one in Ekiti State. The party that has gone to court did so in exercise of its fundamental right.

“The judgement should energize our members to march to the polling units determined to vote for  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates on Saturday, February 25.

“I further re-state my respect for Engr. Segun Oni and further invite him  back to APC and also join us in the task of making our people prosperous.”, the Governor added.

Naira Scarcity: Ekiti Obas Sue For Peace.

Naira Scarcity: Ekiti Obas Sue For Peace
.....Task INEC, security agencies on free, fair polls.
As dingdong  of protests began to dog the nation over the persistent naira scarcity, the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has warned that the burning of government and private institutions won't offer any solution to the current crisis, but exacerbate it.

The traditional rulers averred that despite owing the view that the pains being inflicted on Nigerians due to naira note scarcity was becoming unbearable and excruciating, resorting to arson, killings, and violent protests won't be a panacea for remedying the situation.

The monarchs, also warned Nigerians, especially politicians  against bloodshed in the coming General and Presidential polls, saying they should allow the electorate to freely exercise their franchise through a one-man-one-vote democratic ethos.

This was contained in a statement released in Ado, the Ekiti State capital, over the weekend, and signed by the Council's Chairman, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon CFR.

Oba Adejuwon, who is also the Onisan of Isan Ekiti, expressed confidence and assured the people that the current problem being faced by Nigerians would be tackled in due course, adding that  "there is always a light at the end of a tunnel".

The Monarch, therefore charged the federal government and Central Bank of Nigeria to expedite action on efforts being contrived to ensure a stable flow of currency circulation to ease economic pains being experienced by the citizens.

The traditional ruler said; "We appeal to Nigerians, particularly the Ekiti State residents as they groan under the heavy burden of naira notes' scarcity to be cautious."

"We know that this is not the best treatment that they deserve, but we must tread softly to prevent our situation from becoming more complicated and degenerated.

"We are saddened by reported cases of protests, burning of private institutions, and shooting of angry Nigerians over naira scarcity. These are dangerous events that portend danger to the free conduct of the 2023 polls."

"We appeal to the FG to do the needful to prevent our worsening economic situation from further degeneration by making the currency available to Nigerians with immediate effect. Further delay could be dangerous".

Oba Adejuwon pleaded with the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to be apolitical in the conduct of the coming polls.

The monarch added that exhibiting fairness and neutrality by these agencies will help in stabilizing the country and help the seamless transition of power to the incoming government at all levels.

CRITICAL HISTORY OF OGBOMOSHO

CRITICAL HISTORY OF OGBOMOSHO
Ogbomosho (also Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́) is a city in Oyo State, south-western Nigeria. It was founded in the mid 17th century. The population was approximately 454,690 in the 2006 census. It is the second largest city in Oyo State and also among the most populated in Nigeria. Although the principal inhabitants of the city are the Yoruba people, there are people from other parts of Nigeria and other West African countries who are resident in the city.

HISTORY:
According to an early missionary, "Ogbomosho in 1891 was a walled city, the gates of which were closely watched by day and securely closed by night. The town, picturesque and well watered was isolated from the rest of the Yoruba towns. Political relations were maintained with the Ibadans, for the country depended on its security on the warriors of Ogbomosho and Ikirun... The strength of Ogbomosho lay in the wall and moat surrounding the town, and the warriors made full use of it by sitting close and tight.."

THE TALE BEHIND THE NAME OGBOMOSO:
Olabanjo Ogunlola Ogundiran was of Ibariba descent. He and his wife, Esuu, built their hut by the side of the ajagbon tree.[citation needed]

Ogunlola (later Soun) noticed smoke oozing from some nearby locations. He took courage and approached these places and discovered other hunters. There is no more Bale Akande.

EGBE ALONGO(Alongo Society):
Ogunlola, after the discovery of these hunters, took the initiative to invite them to form the Alongo Society. The primary objectives of the society were: defence against Sunmoni (slave prowlers) raids group hunting of wild animals, and mutual assistance. After each day's hunting, they retired to Ogunlola's hut where they were treated to beans and other meals and were served with Sekete wine brewed by Ogunlola's wife from fermented guinea corn. They also engaged in discussing current affairs and planning.[citation needed]

ORISAPOPO:
Esuu, the wife of Ogunlola, introduced the worship of Orisapopo to Ogbomoso. The worshippers were distinguished by white beads worn round their necks and wearing of white dresses only. Drinking of palm wine was forbidden to them. The name Orisapopo was probably derived from the fact that Ogunlola's hut was on the northsouthern route, therefore the Orisala being worshipped in the hut was named “Orisapopo” (idol by the highway). The importance and influence of ‘Orisapopo’ among the citizens of Ogbomoso is immense. It can be described as the patron “Orisa” of Ogbomoso.

How Ogunlola's settlement became Ogbomosos and Ogunlola became Soun:
During the time, the Ibaribas, under the leadership of Elemoso, attacked Oyo-Ile near Ilorin city. Elemoso caused a devastating havoc among the Oyo people, so much that they feared him in battle. Elemoso consequently laid total siege on Oyo, causing famine and untold hardship among the people.[citation needed]

Alaafin was so impressed by Ogunlola's prowess that he, the Alaafin, requested Ogunlola to stay in the capital (Oyo-Ile) instead of returning to his settlement. Ogunlola politely declined saying “Ejeki a ma se ohun” meaning "let me stay yonder." His majesty, the Alaafin, granted Ogunlola's wish to return to his settlement. This was later contracted to Ogbomoso.[citation needed]

Eventually, the authority of Ogunlola became greater and more respected. His compound by the Ajagbon tree then became the Soun's palace and a rallying point for all Ogbomoso citizens.[citation needed]

Ogbomoso, because of her strategic location, quickly grew from a village status to a medium size town. Her people were also renown warriors. During the Fulani wars of the 19th century, many towns and villages (about 147) were deserted while their people took refuge in Ogbomoso. The influx of people further enhanced the size and strength of the town.

ALAGBA ORIGIN:
Alagba is believed to have been born in the year 1675 in the old Oyo town, which is now being referred to as Ogbomoso. He was reputedly said to have been brought from the forest by the third Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ikumoyede who ruled from 1770 until 1797.[citation needed] In deference to its age, it is called Alagba, which means ”the elderly one” in Yoruba. In Ogbomoso, where the legendary tortoise lumbers about in the palatial grounds of the king, it is almost a sacrilege to refer to Alagba as a mere tortoise. The tortoise played host to many monarchs in Ogbomoso in the past.[citation needed]

LIST OF MONARCHS;
The founder of Ogbomoso, Soun Olabanjo Ogunlola Ogundiran, was the first Soun of Ogbomoso. He had 5 sons, Lakale, Kekere Esuo, Eiye and Jogioro. He was later succeeded by his youngest son, Erinbaba Alamu Jogioro, who was the second Soun. The 5 royal houses of Ogbomoso are descended from the 5 sons of Soun Ikomeyede, the third Soun of Ogbomoso (and son of Jogioro), Toyeje, Oluwusi, Baiyewu, Bolanta Adigun, and Ogunlabi Odunaro. FG moves to assist Ekiti on ecological issues.
.…as Gov. Oyebanji meets SGF over Ilawe-Ado road mudslides, other issues.

The Federal Government is set to assist Ekiti State Government
tackle the ecological issues ravaging some parts of the state.

Specifically, the Federal Government says it would accord the mudslides issue on Ilawe- Ado Road a top priority in its ecological support for the state.

These assurances were given by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, during a meeting with Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji in Abuja on Sunday evening.

Governor Oyebanji had, at the meeting, tabled the mudslides issue which has made the Ilawe- Ado road impassible, as well as other ecological challenges in some parts of the state at the meeting with a plea for urgent action.

The SGF, whose office supervises the Ecological office, noted the Governor's request and assured that the Federal Government would act on it speedily, to avert further disaster.

It is recalled that the State Government had provided an alternative road for motorists shortly after the mudslides caused a huge damage to the Ilawe-Ado road. Recently, the Government has also commenced the rehabilitation of failed portions between Erijiyan-Ilawe-Igede road as an alternative to the Ado-Ilawe road.

Governor Oyebanji says fixing the ecological issues with the support of the Federal Government would ensure a more lasting solution than a hurried rehabilitation of the Ilawe-Ado road.

The Governor urges the people of the area as well as motorists plying the route to remain calm as the road is receiving urgent attention.

He also thanked the Federal Government and the SGF for the kind consideration for Ekiti ecological issues.

Landslide Kills 3 People Injured Several Others At Ijero-Ekiti Mining Site

Landslide Kills 3 People Injured Several Others At Ijero-Ekiti Mining Site.
It was a black Tuesday in Ijero-Ekiti on the 7th of February, 2023, as three people were killed by a  landslide while working at a mining site in Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

An eye witness who chose to be anonymous said the mining activities have been on going  for a very long time at different locations in Ijero-Ekiti with  no safety precautions for the workers nor commercial returns for the town.

"It was a very sad occurrence on Tuesday. Mining has to do with digging of the undergrounds. It was this underground digging that was going on when the landslide occurred. Three people were confirmed dead while three others who were seriously injured were immediately taken to different locations for medical attention"

On further investigation, it was  revealed  that people of the town and other neighboring communities  not leaving out   pregnant women and underage children always troop into the site on daily basis to search and dig the ground for Morganites, Gemstones and other Mineral resources.
A tour of one the mining sites close to the State Specialist Hospital, revealed the dangers and grave ecological consequences that may befall the precious Hospital if urgent measures are not taken to mitigate against the deep tunnels  surrounding the only Health Care Facility in the community.

Meanwhile, the president of Ijero Development Association, Engr. Olaniyi Owoyomi who described the incident as unfortunate, expressed his sadness over the incident and prayed that God gives the families of the victims the fortitude to bear the colossal loss.

Meanwhile, the Ijero Development Association (IDA) which is the umbrella body of all the sons and daughters of Ijero-Ekiti had earlier filed a case against the Miner's Associations at The Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti for their unconcerned attitudes towards the gravely impact of the mining activities on the community and its people.

It therefore,  call on the community leaders and relevant government agencies to intervene in the illegal mining activities without further delay, such that the Mineral resources which are blessings to the town will not end  up consuming all the able-bodied and promising youths of the town in their primes.

Northern Elders Forum Must Agree To Power Rotation: Omoluabi Team Alliance Socio-cultural Group Warns.

Northern Elders Forum Must Agree To Power Rotation: Omoluabi Team Alliance Socio-cultural Group Warns.
As the Presidential election is fast approaching in a couple of weeks, Nigerians across all divides are in high spirit to decide on who stirs the ship of the country beginning from May 29 2023 which will last for another four years from now. Nigeria is an entity, a federation of states, a home to a people with differing cultures, traditions, religious belief, languages and many more criteria that truly speaks of diversity in mankind. However, the beauty of same country lies in our unity, togetherness and living together as a great nation that is kown to be the most populous in Africa. We have been together for over a century dating from the almagation that was implemented by Lord Lugard as the northern and southern protectorates were merged in  a marriage of unity and peace. This is an accord and treaty that the founding fathers have long managed, respected and kept intact till date.

Nigeia belongs to all and must be made to offer equity, fairness and justice to all her citizens across regional divide. The Northern Elders Forum or the so callerd Renewed Elders Forum parades prominent and well respected Nigerians from the northern part of the country and are so expected to preserve history, preserve our political tradition and pass the message of power rotation between the northern  and the southern block of Nigeria to their people without any attempt to manipulate such evergreen gentleman arrangement between brothers who are products of the 1914 almagamation.

It is strange to hear that the elders forum from the north are still undecided as to who to endorse for the presidential election when election is less than 3 weeks from now. They have to be reminded that two major presidential candidates have emerged from the south block and are running on different political parties namely the APC and LP. On their end from the North a PDP and NNPP candidates are also into the race. Yes the candidates from the North have their legitimate right and freedom to run in the election as Nigerians but practically their participation in the 2023 Presidential election is a total breach of an existing political tradition and culture that absolutely preaches power rotation between the north and the south. One would have expected that the Northern Elders Forum under the leadership of Prof. Anglo Abdullahi  would come out and speak the truth to their sons Atiku Abubakar(PDP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso(NNPP) to retreat from their mission and drop such ambitions for the sake of a united Nigeria.

The outgoing President Muhammad Buhari is from the north making the entire north benefit from the.existing culture  of power rotation from 2015 till date cumulating to eight(8) years by May 2023. Unarguably power must now shift to the south so that the people from  this block below the river Niger can also benefit from same privilege as Nigerians  We shall continue to appreciate the APC Northern Governors Forum for their reslove to abide by this tradition during their party primaries even in the face of intra party plots and  adversities. The truth must be told irrespective of whatever becomes the outcome. We are sure that Prof. Anglo Abduullahi and Hakeem Baba Ahmed and other members of the Northern Elders Forum will immediately be guided on the essence of directing the northern people to make their choices for Presidential election among the two presidential candidates from the south as this is sacrosanct for a more united Nigeria. Then when this is done, voters across Nigeria, both north and south can make their choices of who is best for the job
Omoluabi Team Alliance Socio- cultural Group as a voice from the south appeals to the conscience of NEF to make their decision public and timely so as not to further keep their people in suspense as good shepherds.  They are advised to be exemplary and take decisions that agrees with our common political tradition which allows for power rotation in same manner the progressive governors did to allow fairness,  equity and justice have a place in the nations annals of political history. Power must shift to the south now as this is non- negotiable.

No Ward Or Community In My Federal Constituency Without Projects Facilitated By Me~BTO

No Ward Or Community In My Federal Constituency Without Projects Facilitated By Me~BTO

The federal lawmaker representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday declared that no ward or community in his constituency is without a project he facilitated.

While addressing newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, the APC lawmaker who is seeking re-election revealed that there was no ward or community in his constituency that did not have a project facilitated by him.

“There’s no ward or community in my federal constituency that does not have a project facilitated by me during my first tenure as a lawmaker and this is a product of my commitment made possible by the people to ensure that no area is marginalized.

“Also before I became a lawmaker, I brought in consultant who toured the entire federal constituency and we were able to have a comprehensive list of what each area needs.

“This has guided us in the execution of our projects as they are strategic and intentional. They are projects and initiatives which have direct Impact on the beneficiary communities,” he added.

Explaining how he has been able to facilitate majority of his projects in his Federal Constituency, BTO as fondly called stated that he has been able to achieve majority of this project through lobbying which he described as one of the primary duties of a legislator.

“Against the notion that we got our projects in my federal constituency through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), I have been able to facilitate them through lobbying in different federal government agencies.

“During my first term campaign, I only made one promise and that is effective representation, and in doing this, I have been able to effectively lobby for projects from independent bodies among others to the various communities in my federal constituency.”

Also while addressing the challenge of abandoned projects in the NDDC, BTO, who is the House Committee Chairman on NDDC at the green chamber stated that he has prioritized on-going projects over new projects.

“Today we have a completed multi-billion naira edifice for the NDDC in Port Harcourt, this was a project started in the year 1993; also we have completed the police housing project in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government which was long abandoned for 10 years."

On the issue of electricity in Ondo South, he said, "we have successfully made two payments and we will do everything possible to address this situation."

While addressing questions regarding his second term ambition, the lawmaker stated that, “my second term election is a referendum which would be determined by the people. I have done well by giving them effective representation and I am optimistic that the people would sustain my this development.”

Oyebanji Will Make BOUESTI World Class Varsity - Ekiti Deputy Governor
The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has disclosed that the vision of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, is to make the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti (BOUESTI), a citadel of learning that can earn international respect and frontline rating.

The Deputy Governor, said the upgrading of the then College of Education to BOUESTI, by the immediate past administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi, was to make it an intellectual ground that can produce sound, brilliant and  competitive graduates.

Mrs Afuye assured that Governor Oyebanji would neither derail nor renege on this lofty vision that can guarantee success for the university in research prowess and  favourable rating on webometric ranking.

The number two citizen and former member of the University's Governing Council, in a statement by her Media Aide, Victor Ogunje, spoke on Thursday, while being bestowed with the 'Award of Excellence' by BOUESTI Senior Staff Club, at her office, in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Mrs Afuye, who applauded the university for raising the flag high through stable and peaceful academic calendar, said the current government is ready to partner the management to catapult the university to a pedestal, where it can earn global recognition in research and academics.

According to Mrs Afuye; "We thank God that we are having a visionary leader in the person of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. He has the vision of making BOUESTI a citadel of learning that can earn and command  respect internationally, by producing good and quality graduates.

"The kernel of any university is to produce quality graduates, undertake relevan't researches and contribute to the economic growth of the host community and state .

"As encapsulated in our policy thrust, with education as one of the pillars, Governor Oyebanji is unwaveringly committed to ensuring that BOUESTI is put in a good stead to acquire these qualities. It was not established to just produce graduates, but to produce sound ones.

"This award of Excellence, which you said was in recognition of my contributions to the development of the university will motivate me to do more for the university and humanity.

"We will continually make personal sacrifices and contributions to support whatever Governor Biodun Oyebanji will do to give the university a required  facelift".

The President , BOUESTI Senior Staff Club, Com. Sunday Alonge, described the honour as well deserved, saying the Deputy Governor, is a development-driven personality, who has outstanding  love for the university.

Alonge added; "They said a prophet doesn't normally get honour in her town, but this is a confirmation that it is not always so. The Deputy Governor is from Ikere and she is today being honoured from the homefront.

"As an Ikere indigene and member of the university's Governing Council, the Deputy Governor displayed that she was a development -driven individual, who is passionately attached to Ikere community and issues bordering on its development .

"We recognised her role on how the  college was upgraded to a university status. We also recognised how she worked very hard to make the university gained stature that can  rival its contemporaries  all over the world.

"As critical stakeholders, we  are soliciting a strong  partnership with the state government for the building of our university and the  Senior Staff Club to be at per with other ivory towers operating in Nigeria".
