NETHERLANDS🇳🇱 PUNISH ENGLAND; TO PLAY PORTUGAL IN NATIONS LEAGUE FINAL⚔
The Netherlands silenced the cheers of England‘s riotous fans as a valiant comeback clinched a 3-1 victory after extra-time in Guimaraes and a place in the Nations League final.
Marcus Rashford gave England the lead from the penalty spot after Matthijs de Ligt lost control of the ball in his own box and attempted a rash recovering slide tackle.
Memphis Depay consistently came close to pegging England back but lacked a concise finish, while Jadon Sancho missed a point-blank header early in the second half. Finally, though, the Dutch had their breakthrough as De Ligt redeemed his early error, leaping high above John Stones at the near-post and drumming a header past Jordan Pickford.
Neither side could break the deadlock, despite a spate of late chances at either end, but John Stones’ cataclysmic error in extra-time gifted the ball to Depay on the edge of England’s box and it was bundled in by Quincy Promes via the heel of Kyle Walker seconds later in a grim ending to Gareth Southgate’s Nations League campaign.
Promes would then seal the result after Ross Barkley gave away possession to Depay inside the penalty box.
Holland will now take on Portugal in the final.

MY SADDEST DAY AS SENATE PRESIDENT – SARAKI
Nigeria’s Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has said that April 18, 2018, was the saddest day of his tenure.
Mr Saraki said this Thursday while delivering his valedictory speech. The valedictory session marks the last sitting of the eighth Senate.
After other senators had taken turns to reflect on the eighth Senate, it was the turn of Mr Saraki to deliver the last speech.
Before reading his speech, Mr Saraki asked his colleagues to observe a minute silence in honour of late Senators Ali Wakili (Bauchi South), Isiaka Adeleke (Osun West) and Bukar Mustapha (Katsina North) who passed away in the course of the eight Senate.
Mr Saraki thanked his colleagues for their support even in the face of trials.
He noted that the Senate invasion, which led to the theft of the mace, would remain ‘saddest’ moment for him.
“Distinguished colleagues, let me thank each and every one of you for your contributions towards making this the historic Senate that it is. When I think of the many trials and tribulations we have faced as an institution, and my own personal travails, particularly at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, I am humbled, because none of our achievements would have been possible without the support and cooperation of the entire members of this chamber.
“The invasion of the National Assembly by armed security operatives in August 2018 will live in infamy. This way down the line, however, I realise that the day of that invasion was the saddest – but in many ways, it was also a good day for asserting the independence of the legislature and the triumph of democracy.
“It also turned out to be a showcase of the special relationship between this chamber and the House, as Honourable Members stood in unison with their Senate colleagues in defiance of the invaders. I thank the House of Representatives for the remarkable unity of the two chambers of the 8th National Assembly, for it was only in unity that we could withstand the storm.”
Mr Saraki boasted of the conduct of his colleagues who he said had no scandal in the last four years.
“In closing, distinguished colleagues, let me say that I am quite proud of the fact that there was not a whiff of scandal in this Senate. You carried yourselves with the bearing and sense of probity worthy of the office. You played your part in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. May the work we have done here bear bountiful fruits in the length and breadth of this great country of ours, and may it be so for years to come.”
As part of its achievements, Mr Saraki mentioned the Senate’s effort on National Assembly Joint Public Hearing on the Budget, Senate’s roundtable, intervention in the North East, intervention in the two-year strike of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), engagement with the executive among others.
Other achievements, he said, include making public the National Assembly budget and setting aside of one per cent of the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.
“Just the other week, the Minister of Health called the 1 per cent CRF a ‘game changer’, no doubt because, by our activities in this chamber, we are touching the lives of Nigerians and even those unborn.
“Speaking of commendations, our interventions on health also won plaudits from international philanthropists Bill Gates and Bono, as well as the Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO). Similarly, our amendment of the Universal Basic Education Act, guaranteeing free education for children aged nine to twelve, won praise from education rights activist and Nobel Laureate, Malala Yousafzai.
“We cracked the code of several Bills that had eluded Senates before us. We broke the decade-old Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into a quartet of workable bills including the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB), whose passage stands as a major achievement of the eighth Senate. The Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) was the most comprehensive reform law governing Nigeria’s business environment in nearly 30 years. The Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) Bill was one of the major anti-corruption laws we passed, and it saved the country from being expelled from the global body of the Egmont Group. And as recently as May 22, we passed the Nigerian Football Federation Bill which had been caught in the legislative bottleneck for 15 years,” he said.
Mr Saraki advised his successor to continue in that line.
On the other hand, the Senate president urged a more cordial relationship between the executive and legislature.
“And as we say all the things we have done, we must also be reflective and candid enough to acknowledge the things we didn’t do. It is my hope that the ninth Senate will improve on our performance and deliver on those areas that we were not quite able to touch.
“It is also important that I make some comments about Legislature-Executive Relations. My own take is that if the Executive sees the National Assembly’s work on the budget as interference despite the provision of the constitution, then there will continue to be problems between both arms of government.
“If the presidency refuses to have engagements and consultations with the leadership of the National Assembly before the president submits the budget to the legislature, then there will continue to be frictions.”

MORATA SAYS CHELSEA🔵 NEVER APPRECIATED HIM
Alvaro Morata is hoping to complete a permanent move to Atletico Madrid after saying he does not feel "appreciated or loved" by Chelsea.
The Spain forward joined Atletico from Chelsea on an 18-month loan deal in January after being made surplus to requirements by head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Morata, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid for a then club-record £57m fee in July 2017, scored 24 goals in 72 appearances during his spell with the Blues and helped them win the FA Cup during his debut campaign.
But he is now hoping to seal a permanent return to the Spanish capital after scoring six goals in 17 appearances for Atletico.
"I had lost confidence in myself previously. I was very upset by the opinion of the people in England. I think they caught me in the middle of everything," the 26-year-old told Goal.
"I didn't quite feel loved or appreciated by the club or the fans. I started very well at Chelsea, but an injury in the end leaves you a bit stuck."

CRISTIANO RONALDO SCORES BRILLIANT FREE KICK IN NATIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal of the UEFA Nations League finals when he put a magnificent free kick past Yann Sommer in the Switzerland goal.
It's no surprise to see Cristiano Ronaldo score at the perfect time, the Juventus forward has made a career of it, whether it's been for Manchester United, Real Madrid or the Old Lady.
Ronaldo though hasn't been seen for Portugal in months, since the end of last summer's World Cup in Russia, deciding to take a break from international football.
It came as a surprise to no one when the all time Portugal top scorer decided to return for the UEFA Nations League finals.
The tournament is in its first year and the Iberian peninsular side qualified for the final four and are hosting the finals.
It took the 34 year old just 24 minutes to make a huge impact as he scored an incredible free kick goal to put his side 1-0 up against Switzerland in the semi final:
Ronaldo has had a knack of scoring free kicks throughout his career and his hat-trick in the World Cup last year against Spain was finished off with a last minute set piece.
However the stats this season in Italy aren't too kind to the former Sporting winger. In February he was rated as Serie As worst free kick taker after lining up 13 of them and not scoring a single one.
The strike against Switzerland though was the 57th goal from a direct free kick of his career and the 86th goal of his international career.
Ronaldo would add two more to his international tally late in the second half to put Portugal through to the final, where they'll face either England or Netherlands, who play on Thursday in the second semi final.
If you could choose one player to take a free kick to score and win you £100 million who would you pick?

JIMI AGBAJE SPEAKS ON ‘DUMPING’ PDP FOR APC
Mr Felix Oboagwina, media aide to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate in the 2019 elections in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has denied reports that his principal had dumped the opposition party.
Oboagwina told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that social media posts that Agbaje had left the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) were untrue.
NAN reports that the posts that Agbaje had joined APC have featured prominently on social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook in the past few days.
One of the posts sighted by a NAN on WhatsApp and Facebook on Wednesday read “Lagos PDP finally emptied as Jimi Agbaje defects to APC’’.
It was also reported that former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, on Wednesday disclosed that the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State in the last election, Jimi Agbaje, appears to have joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
George also revealed that Agbaje failed in the last election because ‘he thinks he knows it all’, adding that it was Lagos people who worked against him.
He said that Agbaje originally come from the APC and had been part of the ruling party in the state from the beginning.
Reacting, Oboagwina described the reports as fake news, saying they were figments of the imaginations of the authors.
He said that Agbaje was still very much in the PDP and that there was no way he could have joined APC on social media.
“There is nothing like that, nothing like that at all. He is still in PDP; he has not defected.
“How can people say he has defected on social media? He is too big for that; he is in PDP,” Oboagwina said.
When asked if there were plans by his principal to dump the PDP for the APC, he answered in the negative.

BID REJECTED: CHELSEA TURN DOWN LATEST BIG-MONEY OFFER FROM REAL MADRID FOR HAZARD
Chelsea have reportedly turned down a second offer from Real Madrid for Eden Hazard as the transfer saga looks set to drag on.
Given the Belgian’s importance to the Blues, it’s highly likely that they will not agree to sell until their demands are met by Real Madrid.
SEE MORE: Maurizio Sarri drops biggest hint yet he’s leaving Chelsea for Juventus
Hazard was in fine form again this past season, bagging 21 goals and 17 assists in 52 games, helping Chelsea to a top-four finish in the Premier League as well as winning the Europa League.
Coupled with their transfer ban which will deny them the chance to bring in an immediate replacement this summer if he does leave, it’s clear that they will only green light an exit if completely happy with the deal.
According to Calciomercato , via HNL in Belgium, the Premier League giants have rejected a second offer from Madrid which stood at €120m.
It has previously been reported that Chelsea were holding out for €120m, as per the Independent , but either one of the reports is inaccurate, or perhaps their demands have since gone up.
Regardless, it remains to be seen if Zinedine Zidane will see Madrid make a suitable offer to convince Chelsea to sell, as he’ll hope to continue to bolster his squad in the coming weeks having seen the arrival of Luka Jovic confirmed on Tuesday, as noted by
BBC Sport.
Having scored just 63 goals in 38 La Liga games this past season, attacking reinforcements are certainly needed in the Spanish capital, especially considering that prior to that they’d scored over 100 goals in three of the last four campaigns.
Given their inability to replace Cristiano Ronaldo adequately after the talisman’s move to Juventus last summer, the addition of Jovic and perhaps Hazard if a deal can be struck with Chelsea, will certainly raise the quality level in the final third.
For now, based on the report above, an agreement between the two clubs is still missing.

FIVE EX-GOVERNORS IN TROUBLE
…Sacked Ogun LG officials ready to testify against Amosun
…Lagos Assembly set to probe Ambode
…Kwara, Imo government officials already in EFCC net
No fewer than five former governors who recently handed over power last Wednes-day, May 29 are in trouble over alleged corrupt practices while in office.
The five governors are former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, ex-Ogun governors, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Rochas Okorocha, Abdulfatah Ahmed and Barrister Mohammed Abubakar, governors of Imo, Kwara and Bauchi states respectively.
Last night, the sacked Chairmen of the 20 local government councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) under the aegis of ALGON in Ogun State have vowed to clear their names before the panel set up by Ogun State House of Assembly and tell the whole world the pains they undergone during the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun which they described as dark era of politics.
In a press statement signed by the duo of the ALGON Chairman, Hon Semiu Bola and the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Association, Comrade Femi Onanuga, they vowed to explore the window of opportunities open to LG/LCDA chief Executives by the Ogun state House of Assembly to clear their precious names as a good name is better than silver and gold.
“We have graciously put behind us the dark days in our various LG/LCDA of immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun and hopefully looking forward to our incumbent Governor Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun MFR” the Chairmen, whose tenure in office would end in October 2019 if they are not sacked by the House of Assembly.
The statement denied earlier press release purportedly from Ogun ALGON circulating on the social media which described the suspension order of the local government executives by the state House of assembly as unconstitutional and one that could never stand the test of time.
The previous press release denied by ALGON had claimed that the suspension was a mere rumour. The fake press release states “We would like to make it crystal clear that the purported rumoured suspension of the LG and LCDA political functionaries by the Ogun State House of Assembly led by Rt Hon Suraj Adekunbi is a mere rumour and if it’s found to be true it cannot stand the test of time as it’s illegal, unconstitutional and was done in bad faith with no regards for the wish of the people that elected 57 LG /LCDA Chairmen, 57 Vice Chairmen and 349 Councillors not to mention the 57 appointed Secretaries to the LGs / LCDAs”
In a related development, officials of Kwara and Imo State state governments have already been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
The Four Kwara State officials that had already been arraigned by EFCC include Abubakar Ishiak (Permanent Secretary Government House), Shina Akorede (Director of Finance and Administration), Rasaq Momonu (Controller Finance and Accounts) and Hafeez Yusuf (Cashier) the quartet were arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin
The officials were charged to court for allegedly engaging in money laundering to the tune of N20.3 million.
In the charge sheet, EFCC accused the four of making “cash payment of N20.3 million to one Energy Multi-Trade Interbiz Limited for services rendered to the Kwara State Government House, saying that the cash sum exceeded the limitation of N10 million payable to a corporate body thus committing an offence contrary to section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and punishable under section 12(2) of the same Act.”
Similarly, EFCC had also arrested the Acting Accountant-General of Imo State, Mr. Uzoho Casmir on suspicion of laundering the sum of N1.050billion.
The cash was allegedly withdrawn in three tranches for vote buying during the last governorship election in the State. Okorocha’s son-inlaw, Uche Nwosu contested the election under the banner of Action Alliance..
In Lagos, our investigation revealed that the House of Assembly would soon set up a probe panel against the immediate past governor, Ambode.
The former governor who had been at logger-heads with the House of Assembly towards the tail end of his administration is being considered for Ministerial appointment by the power brokers in the presidency. However, our correspondent is yet to ascertain the position of the National leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on the issue.
Tinubu came to the rescue of Ambode when the House wanted to commence impeachment proceedings against him few months ago.
However, an associate of the former governor who pleaded for anonymity said Ambode is not losing sleep over the probe issue because he has no skeleton in his cupboard.
“We are ready for this because we are aware of all their sinister moves but I assure you that majority of Lagosians whom Ambode served diligently during his term will rise against them” he said
In Bauchi State, the newly sworn-in governor, Senator Bala Muhammed has vowed to probe ex-governor of the state Mohammed Abubakar’s administration despite the State House of Assembly passing a bill to repeal the state public property and funds recovery tribunal of 2017 in the state into law less than two weeks to the end of Abubakar’s administration,
The first, second and third readings of the three bill was done on the same day on the floor of the House with the Speaker, Kawuwa Damina presiding
the Member representing Lere/Bula constituency, Aminu Tukur who was against the passage of the new bill said the repealed law was put in place to serve as a deterrent to whoever misappropriate the funds of the citizens.

Virgil van Dijk has been cut to 5/4 (2.25) to win this year’s Ballon d’Or after a stellar performance in the Champions League final.
Liverpool beat Premier League rivals Tottenham 2-0 at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano to win the trophy for the sixth time, keeping their 13th clean sheet of 2019 in the process.
The Dutchman has been a rock at the back since signing for Jurgen Klopp’s men and was named official Man of the Match in Madrid, becoming just the third defender to win the award after Paolo Maldini in 2003 and Sergio Ramos three years ago.
William Hill offered van Dijk at 15/8 (2.88)prior to the final but that has been cut after another influential performance for the Reds. Stunningly, no player has dribbled past the centre-back in any of his last 64 appearances for Liverpool.
No defender since Fabio Cannavaro in 2006 has won the award and if van Dijk is able to scoop the award later this year, he will become the first Dutchman in 27 years to claim it.
However, the bookmaker still believe he was some work to do to oust Lionel Messi at the top of the pile with the Argentine 4/5 (1.80)to win a record sixth Ballon d’Or despite missing out Champions League glory again.
Still, Messi was the top scorer in this season’s European competition with 12 goals. Six of those came in the knockout stages including a stunning 30-yard free kick against Liverpool in the semi-finals.
He was also top scorer in La Liga for the sixth time, scoring 36 times en route to another league title, with 21 of those coming in 2019. The Barcelona star also registered four league assists in the calendar year.
Third in the betting is Mohamed Salah, who is 16/1 (17.0). The Egyptian opened the scoring in the Champions League final with a penalty in the second minute but has his work cut out to chase down Messi and van Dijk.
An outstanding African Cup of Nations tournament this summer is perhaps unlikely to see his odds cut too much, even if he guides his country to a first title since 2010.

DOGARA JOINS RACE FOR SPEAKERSHIP
•As 64 non-APC lawmakers are set to endorse Gbajabiamila •Bago’s camp confident of support from 195 members-elect •Nwajiuba’s emergence from South/East may threaten zoning
THE last may not have been heard about the race for the Speakership of the House of Representatives in the yet-to-be inaugurated National Assembly, as the outgoing Speaker, Yakubu Dogara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly joined the race.
Dogara’s interest in retaining his seat was announced through a campaign launched in the social media platforms by his aides over the weekend with various posters tagged ‘continuity.’
Sunday Tribune stumbled on a poster tagged “God chose Right Honourable Speaker Dogara Yakubu in the Eighth Assembly not any Lagosian. We believe He would do it again for us in the Ninth Assembly.”
Some of the campaigners have also created a hashtag #Dogaraforspeakeragain” which has been generating ripples in some section of the polity and on social media platforms.
In June 2015, Dogara defeated Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila by eight votes to emerge the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before switching party affiliation to the PDP.
APC leadership has endorsed Gbajabiamila as speaker and directed all lawmakers elected on its platform to vote for him and ensure his emergence in the election coming up on June 11.
All efforts to speak with the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to Dogara, Mr Turaki Hassan, on the development proved abortive as all calls and text messages sent to him were not replied.
However, one of the close allies of the Speaker and a returning member told Sunday Tribune in confidence that the project “Dogara for Speaker again” was real.
This came just as Sunday Tribune learnt in Abuja on Saturday that all might be now set for the endorsement of Gbajabiamila for speakership by non-APC lawmakers.
Findings revealed that a group of Representatives known as Ninth Assembly Progressives, comprising 64 non-APC members and led by a ranking and returning member, Honourable Oluwole Oke, PDP, representing Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State, will be meeting on Tuesday (June 4th) to endorse Gbajabiamila.
A member of the group told Sunday Tribune in confidence that the action became necessary in order to further deepen the nation’s democracy for the people to enjoy true dividends of democracy.
When contacted, Honourable Oke, confirmed the development but declined further comments.
In a related development, another leading APC contender for the seat from the North-Central zone, Honourable Mohammed Bago is boasting of having 195 members-elect who have signed for his candidature.
Findings revealed that the move apparently showed that the members-elect may have largely bought into the equity agitation from the aspirant.
Similarly, 156 members were said to have openly declared support for his candidature recently after a meeting at a location in Gwarimpa, Abuja.
Speaking on the current standing of the candidates, a member elect from the South-West told news men in Abuja on Friday that the current swing towards Bago might have arisen from a combination of factors, chiefly his brilliant showing at the interaction which the rival People’s Democratic Party(PDP), held for all the aspirants, including Gbajabiamila, at the Transcorp Hilton recently.
Besides this, the member elect who craved anonymity stated that “even within the ruling APC, Bago has so deftly sold his message that he is currently running neck to neck with Gbajabiamila for the signature of our party members.”
The member-elect also disclosed that the current crisis of confidence among top APC stalwarts is also working perfectly in Bago’s favour.
When contacted for comments on the new development, the spokesman for Bago Campaign Organisation, Honourable Victor Afam Ogene, stated that issues that have to do with members elect supporting Bago would remain closely guarded until few days to inauguration.
According to him, “You know this is a contest involving only 360 members as the electorate. So, we are focusing on those that would vote for us, instead of engaging in show-off trips.”
The speakership aspiration of Honourable Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, a House of Representatives member-elect from Okigwe South Federal Constituency, appears likely to threaten calculations for those in the camp of Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, a front runner in the race.
Reliable northern sources said many governors and elected representatives on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are favourably disposed to Nwajiuba emerging speaker.
The Imo State lawmaker, who left APC to contest on the platform of Accord, had recently called for a review of the zoning of the position to the South-West, urging the APC leaders to look in the direction of the South-East.
Although he left the APC on account of the running battle he had with the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, he has not left anyone in doubt about his for APC.
His aide, Chief Jimmy Isilebo, confirmed that the HCN Project 2019 was aimed at not just winning the Okigwe South constituency seat but also to make a solid aim at the speakership of the House of Representatives.
“There have been some strident calls for some time now, to fairly distribute elective and non-elective offices across all six geopolitical zones, and the case of the South-East zone has been the most harped about. Therefore, HCN’s aspiration to the speakership couldn’t have come at a better time than now.
“Being a one time member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, which makes him a ranking member, he is qualified.
“He is also a foundation member of the APC, and in fact the secretary of the Constitution Drafting Committee that produced the document which gave birth to APC.”

THE UNTOLD STORY OF HOW STELLA OBASANJO DIED
Nigerians were sent into a morning mood when new came in that former first lady, Stella Obasanjo died on October 23, 2005 of complications from tummy tuck surgery in Spain.
The former first lady was preparing for her 60th birthday, and had gone for a cosmetic surgery at a private health clinic in Puerto Banús, Marbella.
When she initially died, the cause of her death was not immediately known, with may reasons coming as the cause of her death.
An initial post-mortem carried out over the weekend suggested Mrs Obansanjo might have died of a severe asthma attack. A more detailed, two-and-a-half hour-long, autopsy performed yesterday, gave a much clearer indication of the cause of death, said
Antonio Garcia de Galvez, director of the Malaga Institute of Forensic Medicine, where the examination was carried out. The results will, however, remain secret and divulged only to the judge in charge of the investigation.
In Spain, autopsies are only court-ordered when the death is deemed to be of a suspicious nature – as in this case – or to have been caused by violence, Dr Garcia de Galvez said. Coroners investigating the cause of Mrs Obasanjo’s death are looking for evidence of possibility of medical malpractice.
Inside stories from Aso rock revealed that her husband, Olusegun Obasanjo who was then president was not aware his wife had gone for a surgery in the European nation.
Obasanjo revealed this in his autobiogrpahy my watch.
“After the internment, I decided to look into the circumstances of her death,” Mr. Obasanjo wrote on page 240 of Volume two of the book. “I found that part of her 60th birthday anniversary, which was unknown to me, was her operation for her tummy and her shape.”
Mr. Obasanjo also addressed the insinuations that his wife’s death may have been a “sacrifice” he carried out for success in his job.
“Before the verdict in Spain, I was unaware of what I came to hear later that I might have caused the death of my wife to sacrifice her for success in my job,” he wrote. “That is how wicked and satanic some Nigerians can be in their rumours and mischief.”
He referred to the doctor who carried out the surgery as “careless” and narrated how with the help of the Nigerian Embassy in Spain and the Spanish authorities, he got justice for his wife’s death.
“I instructed that the doctor and the clinic be prosecuted,” he said. “The lost life cannot be brought back but the successful prosecution would prevent carelessness and loss of life in the future.”
The doctor, according to the former president, was made to pay damages, which was collected by Olu Obasanjo, Stella’s son, and his licence withdrawn for a period of time.
The Spanish doctor who performed the operation on her was sentenced to a year in prison, for his role in her death.
In was in the cause of the sitting that further information emerged on what killed the late first lady.
The judges said the surgeon had shown carelessness and neglect.
The court heard that a tube used for removing fat had been placed by mistake into the patient’s abdominal cavity – puncturing her colon and lacerating her liver.
Mrs Obasanjo became seriously ill the following day.
But prosecutors said the surgeon initially failed to answer his mobile phone, and then waited more than four hours before driving the patient in his own car to an intensive care unit, where she died an hour later.
The doctor – identified in court documents only by the initials AM – was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for causing homicide through negligence.
He was disqualified from practising medicine for three years, and ordered to pay $176,000 (£108,000) in compensation to Mrs Obasanjo’s son.
The court said simple blood tests or an ultrasound procedure would have detected the internal injuries – which, with more time, could have been treated.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved Mojec International Limited to be EEDC’s MAP implementer.
The MAP regulation was said to have been initiated by the Federal Government and NERC last year to help hasten and close-up existing metering gap in the sector through the engagement of third party agents saddled with the responsibility of metering electricity customers.

EID-UL-FITR GREETING FROM SKY MEDIA CONSULTS
Do you known that?
Muslims in all over the world will be celebrating Eid 2019 tomorrow Tuesday 4th June, 2019.
Muslims usually wish each other ‘Eid Mubarak’ after saying the Eid prayer, and may also hug each other three times.
Eid is a word for a festival or celebration, while mubarak means blessed. So to say Eid Mubarak means Happy Eid, or have a blessed holiday.
Eid Mubarak may be said at the end of a fuller greeting. For instance:
- "May the blessings of Allah fill your life with happiness and open all the doors of success now and always. Eid Mubarak!"
- "May God give you happiness of heaven above. Happy Eid Mubarak To You All."
- "May this special day bring peace, happiness and prosperity to everyone. Eid Mubarak!"
- "May Allah blessings be with you today, tomorrow and always. Eid Mubarak!"

MASS EXODUS LOOMS IN APC?
Exodus to where? That card has been played before. But I don’t believe that playing this card now will yield positive result. I, therefore, advise members of the All Progressives Party to forget about defection.
Yusuf Garba Baba
In 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari will be the man to beat. So, anyone in the APC that wants to leave should go ahead and do so. We must note that in politics, there are no permanent friends, just interests.
Ado Garba
The APC has no reason whatsoever to worry about those who want to leave the party.
Olaide Olasunkanmi
They can go anywhere they want to. In 2019, the masses will only vote for personalities, not party, especially in the states. At the federal level, President Buhari still has my support.
Ibrahim Audu Najummai
I have prayed to God to weed out the problems in the APC. So, the defection of some members maybe God’s way of answering that prayer.
Idris Ahmed
All those who are planning to leave are angry because President Buhari is not giving them the opportunity to do whatever they like in the APC.
Suleiman Anjoh
Let them go. On my part, I will remain with PMB.
Umar Abdullahi
These were the type of statements we heard in 2014 before those governors defected. I hope the APC knows what to do to avoid a disaster.
Ubii Abraham
I am tired of the threats by some members of the APC. If they want to leave, they should do so.
Abdullahi Mustafa
The best thing for the aggrieved persons to do is to look for solution to the problem. Leaving the party is not the best way out.
Odueko Olumide John
All the gang up against President Buhari will fail.
Nura Yakubu Danhassan
Those complaining are responsible for the problems in the APC.
Muhd Kabir Mashi
Their departure will amount to victory for the party.
Aliyu Aliyu
The exodus is long overdue.
Abdulrahman Lawal
The people who want to leave do not have the power to stop Buhari. He won elections several times. He has God and the masses on his side.
Musa Hussein
Let them go. The people complaining have not done anything to develop Nigeria and the APC. Imagine a situation where the budget was delayed for about five months before passage.
Adegoke Ademola
They have already decamped by their actions and inactions. Delay in passing budgets, padding, non-confirmation of nominees, do not speak well of party men.
Shamsuddeen S. Aliyu
In as much as I don’t support their exodus to other parties, I must state here that Nigerians are wiser now and cannot be easily fooled by anyone.
Usman Musa
It is unfortunate that Nigerian politicians do not have ideologies. Why do they keep defecting? If you believe in a cause, it will not be so easy for you to defect. We need to have a new mentality about politics.
Oz Amayo
If all these people who worked hard to ensure that Buhari won the presidential election in 2015 are now against him, how will the 2019 elections be?
Omijie Oziegbe
Even if members of the nPDP leave the APC, that will not stop President Buhari in 2019.
Nasiru Haruna
Why is it taking them so long to defect? We already know the good and bad people in this country and that will reflect in the way we vote in 2019.
Sanusi Ali
Pride goes before a fall! With or without them, the APC will win the 2019 elections. If they leave the party, more people will come in.
Ibrahim Fada
The members of nPDP should work with other party members to build the APC.
Adetunji Dolapo
Constant defection of party members will not help the nation’s democracy.
Onuoha Okechukwu Donald
We pray for their exit, as it will bring sanity to the party.
Mansur Balarabe Mansur
When will politicians forget about personal interests and start thinking about the masses?
Sani Aliyu Umar
They should leave now because the earlier, the better. Their defection will be a great relief for the APC and PMB.
Muhammad Abubakar
Exodus to where? Who is after them? They should remain where they are.
Sani Mamman Katsina
Many of those who want to defect cannot win their polling units. Let them defect and let us see if they will win elections in 2019.
Sa’adu Muhammad
I have read the story and truly I don’t believe that they are a threat to President Buhari’s re-election. They cannot stop the masses from voting for him in 2019.
Auwal Moga
If they think that leaving the APC will be more profitable to them, they should leave.
Bamusa Audu Kaki
Anybody who does not want to be part of repositioning this country is free to go anywhere he/she wants to go. With or without them, Nigeria will be great.
Abba Mohammed
Those who want to defect should do so. All I know is that, by Allah’s grace, President Buhari will make it in 2019.
Ibrahim Labbo Kirho
Let them go so that we can have our rightful place in this government that we struggled hard to bring on board.
Usman Shuaibu
I wish all those who are planning to defect the best.
Saleh Musa
The aggrieved persons should form a new party.
Ghali Mohd
Good news. We will transform this country with or without them, insha Allah.
Mustapha Saidu
Their grievances are mostly centred on personal benefits not national development, which is unfortunate. This behaviour is a testimony that we made the right choice in 2015 and we will repeat it in 2019.
Abdullahi Yahaya Adamu
They should leave. Many people joined the APC, thinking that they will be relevant and be allowed to do whatever they want.
Aleeyu Galadeema
Who will remain in a sinking ship? They should leave.
Lepetit Mohammed
The mass exodus has not started yet; this is just the beginning.
ThankGod Okechukwu

SHOCKING!!! OGBONI LEADER LISTS POPULAR MEMBERS SAYS MEMBERS ATTEND CHURCHES, MOSQUES
A seasoned administrator and chartered accountant, Francis Oluwagbenro Meshioye, the Olori Oluwo (Supreme Leader) of the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity has said being a member does not stop members from practising religions of their choice. In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, he explained the fraternity takes its roots from Nigerian culture.
On the negative perception of the group and what attracted him, Meshioye said: “I wanted to understand my culture, to know why I am here. Why was I not born in India as a Hindu or in China to embrace their culture and religion? This made me to begin to look within myself to know who I am and I extended this to what I have within my area. I am a firm believer in the Yoruba saying, ‘Animo ni peregun laso’ meaning you add to whatever you have.
“If that is the case, I wouldn’t leave what I have found within my environment to embrace other things. I do embrace other things, mind you, but I believe that there is something we inherited from our source. I wanted to know why I am a Nigerian, a Yoruba man, what is my culture like and what is wrong with it amongst other things.
“Aside these, I wanted to know God my own way because if you know God and His laws, you will be a better human being. Thereafter, I realised that what I wanted was in my immediate environment. I looked at my culture and realised that it is very useful to realise my oneness with God. Our culture does not cast aspersion on any other and I found out in the Bible – I was raised a Christian – ‘Thou shall not judge’. The bible also says ‘search all things, find out the one that is true and hold on to the truth.’ So, I looked at everything and opted for Ogboni. Incidentally, Ogbonism does not prevent you from going to the church or the mosque.”
Affirming that one was free to engage in religous activities, he stated that: “Ogbonism does not prevent you from doing whatever you want to do. It is about understanding our culture which guides in living a better life and improving the society. These were the things that prompted me to go into our culture. I wasn’t particular about Ogboni but it satisfied my urge of knowing what we have in our culture to assist in living a better life, a respectable life. I love to be respected and I love to respect people and I like to be a noble character.
“I had the same line of thought about Ogboni as the public before I joined. When I was contemplating joining, I had nobody to direct me because you don’t see them easily but I had heard about them; so I said if they are bad I will leave. I later found somebody who introduced me to a member and during the period before induction, they were observing me but I was also observing them. They love each other and are respectable people; so I got interested and got glued to it. I found out that it is excellent and what I had been looking for.”
On the criteria for joining the fraternity, the Leader said: “You must be known by someone who is a member because we want people of good character. You must have a sponsor who will attest to your good character. You must be an adult according to the laws of the land; you must have a verifiable source of livelihood and you must be industrious.
“You apply and your letter will be sent to the state where your sponsor lives; you will be investigated, apparently without your knowledge. If you are found lacking in those key areas during the investigation period, we will tell you sorry you can’t be our member. If you don’t have any shortcomings, you come for an interview. You meet people who will discuss with you and if you are successful at the interview you are on your way to joining.”
Although Archdeacon T.A J. Ogunbiyi started the fraternity on December 18, 1914 and named it Ogboni Onigbagbo, Meshioye, in the interview, explained the name change to Reformed Ogboni Fraternity.
“At that time, there were only few Christian members in the fold but soon after its inauguration, they realised it’s not meant for Christians alone. It’s a cultural heritage and you can’t restrict heritage to religion. In Yoruba culture, we have Christians, Muslims and other faiths. That was why it was changed to Reformed Ogboni Fraternity to accommodate people of different religious leanings, race and political affiliation. It is incorporated and recognised under Nigerian law.
“Our past leaders include Sir Adeyemo Alakija, who was the first Olori Oluwo and he was followed by Sir Adetokunbo Ademola. We have had members including Chief Oladeinde Lawson, the late Archbishop Vining, Reverend David Mellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe, the Sardauna, Ahmadu Bello, and Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola amongst others.”
On the difference between Aboriginal and Reformed Ogboni, the Leader explained that there are in fact three types of Ogboni.
“There is Ogboni Ilu, the governing council of a town. In Yorubaland, the governing system in any reputable town is Ogboni Osugbo. So, we have Ogboni Ilu, Ogboni Aboriginal and the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity. However, the major difference between Reformed Ogboni Fraternity and the others is that it focuses on the core principles and tenets of Ogbonism without tilting to the right or left.”
On the forthcoming centenary centenary celebration of the fraternity on December 18, Meshioye said he hopes people will have a proper understanding of what Ogboni is from the perception of the ROF. “It would be my wish that as many people as possible learn, understand, imbibe and practice the principles of Ogbonism of the ROF because it home-based culture and one’s culture matters a lot,” he added.

ANTHONY JOSHUA RESPONDS TO DEONTAY WILDER AND TYSON FURY TWEETS AFTER RUIZ LOSS
Anthony Joshua says he is paying little attention to the comments of both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury after he suffered a shock defeat against Andy Ruiz Jr. on Saturday night.
The Brit lost his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles after being knocked down four times by his unfancied Mexican opponent, who was drafted in at short notice to replace Jarrell Miller.
Afterwards, AJ got two very contrasting messages from his heavyweight rivals, with Fury backing him to ‘regroup and come again’ while Wilder was scathing, suggesting he had been found out.
He wasn’t a true champion. His whole career was consisted of lies, contradictions and gifts.
Facts and now we know who was running from who!!!!#TilThisDay
Asked about the two messages, Joshua told IFL TV: ‘That’s boxing, contradictions, it’s one or the other. That’s boxing.
‘But I’m still young in the sport, still got a long way to go. Been pro I think six years, so I’ve still got another like nine years in me. Fighters go on until they’re 40 now, I’m still 29 so I still got a long time.
‘I do it for the love, I love this game bro. My eyes are still focused and my mind is still focused on achieving great things in the sport.’
Asked in another interview with Behind The Gloves about Fury’s message of support, AJ added: ‘I don’t really listen to Tyson Fury if he says good shit or bad shit. I don’t really listen to that.
‘It’s just my family, my team, that’s who I listen to. I don’t really worry about that. But that’s Tyson innit? That’s the rest of the heavyweights. I don’t really get involved in the boxing talk.’
Reacting to the defeat in the ring straight afterwards, Joshua told Sky Sports Box Office: ‘Boxing is a tough sport, but I train hard and I got beaten by a good fighter, it will be interesting to see how far he goes, but this is all part of the journey.
‘Congratulations to the first Mexican heavyweight champion. We bounce back. This is the risk we take, every fighter deserves respect so congratulations to him. I respect every fighter, this is all part of the legacy, it’s how strong I came back. He’s a champion for now, I shall return.’
