Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has commended Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji for redefining the political narratives of the state by fostering unity among different tendencies, describing his administration as one where everybody feel a sense of belonging regardless of ethnic, social or political leaning.

Senator Bamidele stated this on Wednesday during his Christmas visit to the Governor at his county home in Ikogosi Ekiti, emphasizing that Oyebanji’s administration has brought an end to the politics of acrimony and division in the state

Speaking with Journalists shortly after the visit, the Senate Leader noted that Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style has created a new Ekiti where everyone feels valued and important, stressing that the development has now built trust and mutual respect among the citizens.

He maintained that the Governor has banished politics of acrimony and has instead fostered a sense of belonging among all Ekiti people.

While acknowledging that the Governor’s administration has been marked by significant progress in the areas of Infrastructure, education, and human capital development, Senator Bamidele said these achievements were made possible by the Governor’s deliberate efforts at ensuring peace and inclusivity in governance.

He urged Ekiti people to rally round the Governor so as to be able to sustain the ongoing transformation the state is witnessing.

“Well, I am here to pay homage to my Governor, and to God be the glory we are now enjoying the new Ekiti that God has given to us and when I say we are enjoying the new Ekiti, I mean we now have a state where everyone feels and nurses a sense of belonging, there is no outcast, no division, not even in our party, its no longer about whether you are for or against the Governor.

“A lot of people who ordinarily would have been afraid to even go pass my street not to talk of coming to my house were there to celebrate Christmas with me, this truly goes to show we are indeed having a new political order in Ekiti and if you were not involved in the acrimony of the past you will not understand what it means.

“For the first time in the history of this state, we have a Governor who does not draw a line of demaction between the ruling party and opposition party. He sees himself as the Governor of Ekiti State, not governor of the APC or a faction of APC, not a Governor of Christians or Governor of Muslims”. The Senator asserted.

Governor Oyebanji, while expressing his gratitude to the Senate Leader and other distinguished leaders of the state who had come to celebrate Christmas with him, reiterated his commitment to serving all citizens equally.

Stressing that love and unity are essential to the sustenance of the state’s development, the Governor said progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.

The Governor noted that the state’s diversity is its strength, just as he urged citizens to prioritize their collective goals over individual interest.

“Well, the essence of this season is love, Jesus came and died for us, that’s the mark of love and if you listened to what the Senate Leader said that is how things should be. As a servant of the people, we must show love to everybody”. The governor stated .

Christmas Message: Fayemi Urges Nigerians to embrace Hope, Unity; Govt to try new solutions.

Christmas Message: Fayemi Urges Nigerians to embrace Hope, Unity; Govt to try new solutions.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State and former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), has extended heartfelt Christmas and New Year wishes to Nigerians, urging them to remain hopeful and committed to building a better nation despite the challenges of the past year.

In his Christmas message, issued by his media office, Fayemi described the season as a time for hope, renewal, and reflection. He highlighted the importance of looking back on the country’s struggles and determining to forge ahead.

“The past year has tested our national resilience,” Fayemi noted. “We have confronted economic difficulties, security concerns, and social upheavals that have left many struggling to make ends meet. Yet, amid these challenges, the strength, resourcefulness, and enduring spirit of Nigerians have continued to shine brightly.”

He called on Nigerians to embrace the message of Christmas—love, compassion, and sacrifice—and draw inspiration from the sacrifices of Jesus Christ by becoming their brother’s keeper and supporting the vulnerable members of our communities.

Fayemi stated: “As we gather with loved ones this festive season, I urge all Nigerians not to lose faith in the possibility of a better tomorrow. Our nation's history is replete with examples of how we have overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles through unity and determination. This moment, though difficult, shall also pass.

‘’I call on federal and state governments to continue to place the welfare of our citizens at the epicentre of all policies and initiatives. When existing solutions fail to deliver the desired results, we must not shy away from exploring alternative approaches. Good governance demands courage and flexibility—the courage to acknowledge when strategies need adjustment and the flexibility to implement new solutions.

‘’The coming year presents us with an opportunity to reset and rebuild. While we cannot understate the magnitude of our current challenges, we must also not underestimate our capacity as a nation to overcome them. The path ahead requires bold leadership, innovative thinking, and most importantly, the active participation of all Nigerians in the national renewal.

‘’Let this festive season remind us of our shared humanity and common destiny. As we celebrate, let us remember those less fortunate and extend our hands of fellowship to them. The true spirit of Christmas—love, giving, and hope—should guide our interactions not just during this season but throughout the coming year.

‘’I wish all Nigerians a peaceful Christmas celebration and a New Year filled with hope and possibilities. May the coming year bring relief to our people and progress to our nation.”
